(Cecil series)
This soil is
one of the most extensive soils in the
southeastern USA - it is estimated that Cecil
soils are on nearly one-third of the Piedmont
Plateau. Cecil soils form from felsic igneous and
metamorphic rocks and is mapped from Virginia to
Alabama. The Bt horizons typically have clay
textures and may contain up to 70% clay. The Bt
horizons are dominated by low-activity clays such
as kaolinite and hydroxy-interlayered
vermiculite.
