sandy, mixed Aquic Haplocryod

This soil has formed in sandy glacial outwash found along the margins of Priest Lake. It supports hemlock, western redcedar, and subalpine fir overstory with a mat of Sphagnum understory. The E horizon has a pH of 3.5-4.0 and contains 85% sand; the Bs and BC horizons contain 98+% sand. This soil has a high water table and contains redoximorphic features in the Bs horizons.
