Haplocryod
This soil is
found at ~6000-ft elevation in the Selkirk
Mountains of northern Idaho and is associated
with subalpine fir forest. The upper part of this
soil contains significant quantities of volcanic
ash from the eruption of Mount Mazama and is
underlain by very coarse-textured glacial till
derived primarily from granite of the Kaniksu
batholith. The E, Bhs, and Bs1 horizons have silt
loam textures and contain 25-30% volcanic glass.
The E horizon has a pH of 3.7 and the Bhs and Bs1
horizons have P-retention of 95-96%.
