These soils
are extensive on the lower Atlantic and Gulf
Coastal Plains from Maryland to Alabama. They
occupy depressional areas, stream terraces, or
broad, flat areas where the water table is close
to the suface. Because of the high water table,
these soils are used mainly for forestry and
grazing. Where artificial drainage is possible,
they are used for production of potatoes, corn,
and other vegetables. Natural vegetation is
longleaf and slash pines, water oaks, and myrtle.
