Hapludox landscape
central Puerto Rico

Hapludox are found on the stepped hillslopes in the middle and background of this photo. They are formed from weathered tuff and tuffaceous sediments. These soils are primarily used for crop production, including sugar cane, plantains, and pineapple. Some areas are used for pastureland.
