very-fine, kaolinitic, isohyperthermic Rhodic Eutrustox
(Molokai series)

These are very deep, well-drained soils that formed in material weathered from basic igneous rock. These soils are on uplands and have slopes ranging from 0-25%. Mean annual rainfall is ~25", and mean annual temperature is ~73 degrees F. These soils are members of the Molokai series and are used for the production of pineapple, pasture, irrigated sugarcane, and for wildlife habitat. The oxic horizon (Bo horizons) in Molokai soils is slighty acid to neutral, with pH values ~6.5.
