example 9 Argixeroll
landscape
Nez Perce Co., ID
Soils formed
on these steep basalt canyons are generally
shallow to bedrock, but are well developed due to
the long-term stability of the landscape. These
soils support an Idaho fescue/bluebunch
wheatgrass habitat and are used primarily for
grazing. The shallow depth to bedrock, steep
slopes, and low water holding capacity severely
limit the use of these soils for other purposes
such as development or crop production.
