Rendoll
southeastern Minnesota

This shallow soil consists of very dark A horizons (mollic epipedon) directly overlying CaCO3-rich parent material of sedimentary origin. Mean annual precipitation is approximately 35 inches.

Rendolls occur in humid regions where they form in highly calcareous parent materials such as limestone and chalk. They are not extensive in the US.
