example 4 Dystrocryept
landscape
Lemhi Co., ID
Soils formed in these landscapes are
generally thin and weakly developed with a large
percentage of rock fragments. These
characteristics give rise to a low water holding
capacity. Low water holding capacity and scarce
summer precipitation make for poor timber
production on these soils. Primary soil uses
include wildlife and big game habitat as well as
outdoor recreation. These landscapes are
important watershed resources for irrigation and
power development downstream.
