Typic Torriorthent
(Garbutt
series)
This soil is a member of the Garbutt Series
and has undergone very little soil development.
The parent material is a silty alluvium derived
from calcareous lacustrine siltstone. The soil
has not yet been significantly leached and
calcium carbonate is still present in the upper
horizons. In time, calcium carbonate in the upper
profile will leach downward and accumulate in the
subsoil.
