Typic Hapludalf
southern Michigan

This soil is formed in calcareous glacial till on gently rolling landscapes. Native vegetation consists of hardwood forests and the soil is commonly used to grow beech and sugar maple. Cleared soils may be used to grow crops such as corn and small grains; however, tile drains are required.
