Perched Water Table Hydrographs

Perched water tables form as early as late November and persist into late May in soils of the eastern Palouse.  These hydrographs show the height of perched water above the surface of the restricting layer over the course of two monitoring seasons.  A comparison of hydrographs for upper, middle, and lower slope positions at the same research site in northern Idaho, shows how much spatial variation exists in temporal patterns of saturation.  The relative locations of genetic horizons within the profile are shown to the right of the hydrographs.
