Graduate Research Assistantships - Soil Chemisty
April 22, 2002

The Soil Science Division at the University of Idaho in Moscow, ID, invites applications for full-time graduate research assistantships. Assistantships are available to students wishing to pursue a PhD degree in Soil Chemistry, with thesis research related to the following funded research project:

Project: Speciation of metals on clay mineral surfaces. This project will use several equilibrium and spectroscopic techniques to investigate the mechanisms that heavy metals bind with clay mineral surfaces. The project has significant implications for environmental science since clay minerals sequester metal contaminants present in soils and waters.

This is an excellent opportunity for a student to gain research training that involves the use of cutting edge technology. The project is ideally suited for a PhD student, but a qualified MS student will be considered. This position has a competitive stipend.
